Adoption

Our farm animals are available for adoption within a 4 hour radius of our location. Animals may not be used for breeding or commercial production or consumption, they are available only as pets.

Rosco

Rosco P. Coltrane is a 3 year old wethered Boer goat. Rescued from slaughter, he has been with us for some time and is incredibly friendly and mostly halter-trained. Great with other adult goats, a little pushy with the youngsters. A farm favorite.

Adoption Fee: $125

Marigold
Marigold

Marigold is a 2 year old gilt. She has gotten along well with large and miniature pigs in the past. Found wandering the streets of Columbia as a piglet, Marigold has been with us for most of her life and is very people-friendly.

Khaki Campbell Duck Pairs
Khaki Campbell Duck Pairs

We have 2 pairs of first year Khaki Campbell ducks. These ducks have been flock raised and are not overly gentled to handling. Need to be encouraged into the coop to roost at night or they will try to sleep on the ground.

Golden Comet Hens
Golden Comet Hens

These lovely ladies were rescued as “spent hens”. They still lay, but rather sporadically. Nice, calm chickens who aren’t flighty or scared, these older gals would bring some peace to a nervous flock, or do well raising the next generation. Total of 13 hens available.

Piccolo
Piccolo

Piccolo is a 2 year old Lamancha whether rescued from slaughter. He’s a “goat’s goat” and is a little shy. Gets along great with other goats and sheep, a little timid around people. Would make an excellent companion for others.

Oreo and Pennywise
Oreo and Pennywise

Oreo and Pennywise are young Tennessee Fainting Goats. They are fun, friendly, and curious. They are a male/female pair and we would like to adopt them together. They are great eaters and climbers and will eat treats out of your hands. They would be great for any first-time goat owners!

Brownie
Brownie

Brownie came to us from animal control. He’s a young (around 1-2) male mixed rabbit. He may be the nicest rabbit that we have ever had at Gentle Friends. He gets along well with adults, children, and even cats! He loves outside time but will happily stay inside and hang and relax under a table. He’s easy going and not a picky eater (kale may be his favorite). He will be neutered before going to his new home.

Bill

Meet Bill. Bill is a young Ameraucana rooster. They are a very hardy breed and tend to be nicer than a lot of other rooster breeds. He gets along well with the other chickens in his flock. He will become about 5-6 pounds.

Pekin drakes
Pekin drakes

We have 4 Pekin drakes available at this time. They are a wonderful breed and generally get along well with other ducks. The drakes have a quiet quack sound and a curly tail. We prefer to adopt drakes and ducks in pairs unless you already have ducks at home, they don’t like to be alone.

Theo is a 4 year-old Bantam Cochin rooster. He’s super friendly, can be held, and loves pets. He gets along well in his flock.

Ozzy
Ozzy

Ozzy is a Svarthona rooster and fully melanistic. He’s flighty and wild and would make a good guardian for your females. He’s beautiful to look at but may never want to be held. He’s a hard breed to find.

Bert and Ernie
Bert and Ernie

Bert and Ernie are drakes and get along well. We prefer they stay together. Great eaters and foragers.

Toulouse Goslings
Toulouse Goslings

Two Toulouse goslings, unsexed. These two will weigh about 15-18 lbs when fully grown, great insect eaters and scavengers.

Albert

Uncle Albert is a 4 month old Ameracauna/Lavender Orpington cross rooster. He gets along well with his current flock and isn’t too pushy.

Roobot
Roobot

Adopt Roobot! He may be the nicest rooster we’ve had. He doesn’t mind if you pick him up and he hasn’t had a scuffle with anyone, not even our hens. If you’re looking for a calm and gentle protector, this may be your guy.

Feathers and Quills
Feathers and Quills

Feathers and Quills came to us from animal control after living in a hoarding situation inside of a home. They are learning how to live outdoors and how to be turkeys. They are calm and gentle and talk quite a bit to each other. We prefer they stay together or go to a farm with other turkeys.

Adoption fee: $40 pair
